Kath & Darren’s Oxford Barn
Before
When I initially met with Kath & Darren they expressed their fatigue with their existing kitchen. It was dated, a little bland & coming to the end of its lifespan. The existing kitchen ran around the perimeter of the room leaving a huge space in the centre that couldn’t be adequately filled by a dining table.
The Brief
Surrounded by serene Oxfordshire countryside, Kath & Darren’s property is a beautiful converted barn with long & spacious rooms that have plenty of original & rustic features. They wanted a kitchen that reflected their personal style & fit well within the property. We discussed a in-frame kitchen to provide a timeless base but one that was bright, clean & not too traditional. I needed to improve the amount of worktop space that they had & they also needed a lot more storage too, so a lovely big island was definitely on the cards. They asked Amplyfy to completely refresh the whole room which included, removing the old kitchen, preparing all electrical & plumbing services, new window frames, kitchen manufacture & installation, & decorating.
The Result
Kath & Darren now have this stunning family kitchen which is a beautiful place to cook, bake & relax. The breakfast pantry provides a tonne of storage for dry stores & all the large drawers in the island house their crockery & pans. We installed a 110cm Rangemaster cooker to increase their hob & oven space from an old 4 zone electric hob. The Farrow & Ball “Douter” on the island is an almost perfect match for the mineral green cooker & adds some natural colour to the room. All set with polished nickel & chrome hardware, we have created a timeless family kitchen that will play host to their busy daily life & I’m sure lots of exciting events in the future.
Alongside the kitchen we also installed a small utility room to house the laundry machines & of course the all-important wine cooler!
